Day7 - How is “Japanese lifestyle in Bangkok" ?

 

 Today, I’m spending normal holiday. In the morning, I washed my clothes by myself. (Because it costs 40 bahts to use a laundry.) Then, I went to a supermarket to buy an insecticide. Now I’m in Cafe Amazon to write this and study.

 

 In Prom Phong, where I’m staying, many Japanese live for working or after retiring, so I can buy everything necessary for living of Japanese style. There is no wrong that it is convenient for me, Japanese. On the other hand, actually I feel bored for such a living environment.

 

 Of course, I’m just staying for a week and if I stay for a few years to work in future, I will surely need such a living style.

 

 However, if so, isn’t it much different whether working in Bangkok or in Japan? One of the reason I like Bangkok is “lifestyle”. If I stay for the purpose of “working”, I’m afraid that I will lose such a reason.

 

 Many people say “working overseas is completely different from traveling.” I really understand it. 

 

 What is the purpose of working abroad for me? 

 What have I been interested in while traveling abroad?

 What is making me think so? 

 

 I should reconsider what I’d like to do in future.

 

 Anyway, I think it is important to study and get more familiar with Thai and Southeast Asia.

 

 Because of this, I decided to make some rules.  One is that I cannot drink a beer without memorizing over 30 Thai words. I’m really afraid this rule would kill me but I give it a try. Another is that I set “Language hours”. A few hours in a day, I must do anything without Japanese. Certain friend of mine, who is in Canada to study and work as Internship, said “I don’t use Japanese while being in Canada.” I impressed and now models his decision.

 

 Today is like that. And sorry to mention it late, I’m really concerned about the typhoon in Japan.
